So Here's What We Do

Now we're going to change things up a bit: the game is getting shortened, shrunk, minimized, whatever. The game needs to be smaller so we can actually finish. We'll stop being so ambitious for a while and try to think of something we can actually complete. I suggest a game for the DC arcade...

So get into this thread and voice your opinion on what you think we ought to do now.

Progress So Far and Some Stuff To Do

So far, what the game has is an engine, and a level editor in the works. I'm also making a tileset for the game, which can be seen in the image to the right.

In other news, I still need people on the Art, Sound, and Story Teams. I've given each team a task: The Sound Team needs to make some dramatic intro music, the Art Team needs to decide on a central art style, and the Story Team needs to decide how many heroes and villians there will be.

Team Building Activity

Um, so yeah. Now I'm asking for specific team members. As in Art, Sounds, and Story. We have the programmers we need right now so that'll have to wait.

Oh My Goodness

So you know what I just did? I really need to stop pointing out things I do and just say them. Anyway, I've locked the Story Discussion thread. "Whoah! What's going on?" says one person. "That's messed up!" says another. Well, calm down, it isn't over yet. You see, I've been thinking that maybe I went about this the wrong way. Instead of having everyone work on their own stories or critique others, maybe it'll be better if we write the story together.

And this is the first step: TDC Community Project Story Survey

Yep, if you're interested, you can fill out that survey to make your opinions and ideas about the story heard. Once you do, and once a sufficient amount of people put in their input, (I don't like the wording of that sentence, put in input) I'll gather the results and we can discuss those, develop those, and form a story out of them. Yay!

Look What I Did

Wow, look at that. I put up a poll. What for? Well, while I'm busy making the level editor, waiting for sprites and all, I figured that I would see what feature was the most important for the pressure pack. You go ahead and pick one. The most voted will be given priority in programming. So yeah. If you don't know what the features will look like, just click the title of this post.

Opening the Blog

All right, here you go everyone. It might be easier to stay up to date or keep interest in this project if you have a better idea of what's going on more often, so I made this blog. This way I can post more often without interrupting the other projects on The Daily Click.

OldManClayton told me the other day that one reason he hadn't originally shown interest is because I make long posts, so I'm going to practice shorter ones. Here goes:

Story: Story discussion I have decided to halt for a bit. It wasn't moving much of anywhere. Instead, it'd be nice if everyone gave input on what kinds of areas they want.

Programming: Still need an engine. Matthew's engine will be nice if he can add slopes, slippery floors, jump through platforms, and ropes. I also liked SevenT2's stuff. I'm making a level editor.

Graphics: I need people to make tilesets and objects for the level editor.

All right then, that should be good.
